Bob Young Joins GMP As Sales & Applications Engineer

Young has accrued more than 30 years of experience in the telecommunications industry in the US and abroad, particularly in aerial construction applications. His career began immediately after his honorable discharge from the military in 1969, when he joined the Pacific Telephone Company as a telephone lineman. Bob then quickly advanced through a number of management positions. Young's career forged ahead into product-development, sales and marketing at Mobile Tool International, Westminster, CO, where he was instrumental in the startup of TELSTA Network Services.

Bob holds three U.S. patents related to cable stringing and cable placing apparatus. He has also contributed application articles to such leading industry publications as Outside Plant, Telephone Engineer & Manager, and Utility Products Showcase.

Young served in the U.S. Marine Corps. (1967-1969), with combat duty in Vietnam, where he was awarded several commendations, including a Presidential Unit Citation with a Bronze Star. He remains an active member in the Marine Corps Association. He also maintains active memberships with several industry groups, including The National Association of General Contractors, the Power and Communications Contractors Association, the Society of Cable Television Engineers (Speakers Bureau), the California Telephone Association, and the Western Rural Telephone Association. A native of California, Bob and his wife, Linda, now reside in Warrington, PA.
