The
AccelAir Blown Fiber Machine is
the latest complement to the range of fiber optic blowing equipment
available from GMP. Designed to suit the smaller end of fiber range
from 2 to 12 fibers
(1 to 2mm dia.),
AccelAir completes the range
of Tornado
and Breeze fiber blowing installation systems all from one company.
A compact integrated fiber-blowing
machine, the AccelAir benefits from full automation and fiber management.
Its sophisticated fiber protection is designed to ensure that the blown
fiber's mechanical and optical integrity is maintained. The machine
is self-contained
and only requires a single electrical supply and compressed air to operate,
both of which come from the AccelAir Compressor.

What
is fiber blowing?
Fiber
blowing is a technique pioneered by British Telecom for
blowing small bundles of fibers into small tubes that can be placed
around a building. Fibers can be easily blown into the tubes. Since
these fibers can at any time be quickly blown out of the tubes if required,
upgrading is easy. For example, an unknown multimode fiber is simple to
upgrade an OM3 multimode or an OS1 single-mode fiber. This
flexibility and
opportunity
for easy upgrading has made blown fiber installation the method of choice
for many buildings. Blown fiber is also attractive for fiber-to-the-home,
or FTTH, projects where the tube can be installed and allow easy fiber
installation with minimal disruption at a later date. |

Air Compressor The AccelAir Air Compressor
was developed specifically for use with the AccelAir Blowing Head Unit
for optimum
performance in the field. The compressor is fitted with after cooling,
filtration and
air-drying in the ideal combination to take full advantage of the viscous
drag effect for maximum fiber blowing length.

• Power comes from an air-cooled Honda GX160
4-stroke engine with pull start
• The rotary sliding vane compressor is highly efficient and reliable.
A built-in pressure control ensures the compressor exactly matches air demand,
delivering 8.5 CFM @145 psi (240 ℓ/min @ 10 Bar)
• The compressed air is conditioned through a membrane dryer providing
a +2°F Pressure Dew Point rise based on a 95°F inlet temperature and
maximum flow
• Filtration to 0.01 µm particulate and oil removal ensures an air
source free from contaminates
• An on-board 24-volt DC power supply is provided to power the AccelAir
Blowing Head

AccelAir Electric Powered
Compressor
The AccelAir Electric Compressor is a reciprocating single stage, portable
115 VAC powered air compressor. This heavy-duty compressor has similar
specifications to our gasoline powered compressor but without the dangers
of working with
gas powered equipment indoors or out. |

• Power comes from an 115 volt, 15 amp 60 Hz Industrial/Commercial
UL listed electric motor with thermal overload protection with on and
off switch and a 6 (1.8 m) foot power cord.

The heavy-duty single stage piston, cast iron compressor pump delivers
5.1 CFM @ 150 psi and is protected by a pressure relief safety valve.
