Overview

General Machine Products, a Klein Tools company, located in Suburban Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is a manufacturer of a wide range of products for the telecommunications, power utility and cable television industries, and the contractors who serve them.

We are currently looking for a Senior Manufacturing Engineer to be located in our Trevose, PA Facility.

Responsibilities

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer is responsible for providing engineering support to the local manufacturing facility and managing specific phases or aspects of a project as directed.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

  1. Uses theoretical principals and judgment to evaluate and select adaptations (as needed) of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in order to design equipment, systems, and processes to meet project requirements.
  2. Makes decisions on engineering problems and methods in order to resolve important questions and to plan and coordinate work.
  3. Performs work which includes complex resolution of conflicting design requirements, unsuitably of standard materials and difficult coordination requirements.
  4. Conducts process capability studies for proposed equipment and systems. Reviews cost estimates and evaluates engineering proposals and specifications.
  5. Develops and tests components, equipment, and systems applying principles and techniques of electrical, mechanical, and/or industrial engineering as needed.
  6. Writes and assists others in writing technical reports to document engineering analysis and findings.
  7. Prioritize projects to align with the goals of the various project teams and facilities.
  8. Review the progress of all active projects on a consistent basis and work to maintain overall time lines.
  9. Ensure that all work products provide for quality project outcomes downstream.
  10. Be able to adapt and function in an environment of changing goals and priorities often under tight time constraints.
  11. Maintain close contact with associated engineering group, process team and business unit in other facilities.
  12. Mentor and assists other engineers within the department or associated group and project teams.
  13. Work to minimize any manufacturing downtime, scrap, or waste during project implementation.
  14. Perform all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Qualified applicants will possess a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, or Industrial Engineering from an ABET accredited institution or program with three (3) years of direct work experience or an Engineering degree from a related field and five (5) years of relevant work experience.
  • Must possess project team experience and demonstrated ability to communicate and contribute with all cross functional members, staff members and outside consultants. Demonstrate strong technical, analytical, planning and organizational skills.
  • Ability to facilitate complex projects and solutions. Ability to work with all internal departments, plants and facilities as well as outside vendors of finished goods and suppliers of components.

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Manager to be located in our Trevose, PA Facility.

Responsibilities

Manage the departments manufacturing operations. Plan, direct, and coordinate the operations of production departments. Develop manpower loading requirements based on production needs. Responsible for the creation and adherence to the departments fiscal budget. Make budget recommendations on capital expenditures and labor. Sets priorities for production schedules based on new product introduction, equipment efficiency, and material usage. Oversees the work efforts of Production Supervisors. Oversee various safety and lean manufacturing efforts within the facility to drive best ‐inclass operational performance.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

  1. Production: Ensure the timely delivery of products within the cost and quality specifications through effective use of subordinates and production activities. Ensure manufacturing capability is utilized to meet customer demand; accountable for accurate staged and/or finished inventory levels. Key Metrics: Overall Equipment Effectiveness ﴾OEE﴿, Adherence of On Time Delivery percentage, Inventory Accuracy percentage, Cost per Unit, and Champion of lean methodologies.
  2. Methods: Analyze and review operating methods procedures on a continuous basis to develop and implement improvement strategies. Include your team in the improvement process to improve their technical and managerial skills. Maintain visual scheduling methodologies to drive collaboration in problem solving.
  3. Financial Budget: Develop the annual departmental fiscal budget. Determine staffing levels on an ongoing basis. Review regular departmental financial reports and take action where necessary to control costs. Approve all purchases of supplies and equipment. Plan, justify and submit capital projects for the department. Implement and communicate countermeasures as required.
  4. Human Resources: Execute Company policies and procedures regarding job announcements and select candidates. Establish and communicate job content, accountabilities and standards of performance. Conduct formal performance evaluations. Interact with subordinates and Human Resources concerning departmental disciplinary issues.
  5. Safety/Housekeeping: Drive a proactive approach to Safety Management through education and reinforcement. Ensure that proper safety methods are used in the department as specified by the Corporate Loss Prevention group. Assure your team maintains an orderly and clean department.
  6. Quality: Implement quality systems/programs designed to provide assurance of product quality. Participate in Material Review Board Meetings that pertain to the department.
  7. Staff Development: Provide opportunities for staff to improve technical and managerial skills, through training and education.
  8. Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Qualified applicants will possess a Bachelor’s Degree in Operations, Business, Engineering, or other related field with a minimum of ﴾7﴿ years of experience in a manufacturing environment; demonstrated ability to lead people; knowledge/experience with strategy deployment preferred.

We are currently looking for a Manufacturing Engineer / CNC Programmer to be located in our Trevose, PA Facility.

Responsibilities

Develops and writes Computer Numerical Control (CNC) Programs for machine tools.  Coordinates manufacturing processes in industrial plant by performing the following duties.

Specific Responsibilities will include:

  1. Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods.
  2. Analyzes and plans space requirements, and workflow, and designs layout of equipment and workspace for maximum efficiency.
  3. Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
  4. Confers with equipment suppliers to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials, or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
  5. Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
  6. Writes instruction sheets and cutter lists to guide setup and operation of machine.
  7. Writes program of machine instructions in symbolic language to encode numerical control database to regulate movement of machine along cutting path.
  8. Compares or computer output with original program to assure accuracy of machine instructions.
  9. Revises program to eliminate instruction errors or omissions.
  10. Observes operation of machine on trial run to validate machine efficiency or programmed instructions.
  11. Confers with management, engineering, and other staff regarding manufacturing capabilities, production schedules, and other considerations to facilitate production processes.
  12. Applies statistical methods to estimate future manufacturing requirements and potential.

Qualifications

EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree ﴾B. A.﴿ from four‐year College or university; or one to two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents. Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or members of the business community. Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format. Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards of directors.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to apply advanced mathematical concepts such as exponents, logarithms, quadratic equations, and permutations. Ability to apply mathematical operations to such tasks as frequency distribution, determination of test reliability and validity, analysis of variance, correlation techniques, sampling theory, and factor analysis.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
