Senior Mechanical Engineer

This is a supporting role in which the Senior Mechanical Engineer is responsible for performing engineering analysis to define design requirements, and review the suitability of materials, and feasibility of proposed processes under daily direction. This position requires solid knowledge of engineering fundamentals and principles with a good general understanding of various material properties.
  • Focus primarily on the engineering development of new product ideas that fuel the future growth of the assigned products.
  • Participate in field visits with Product Marketing to observe end-user installations and uncover unmet needs related to fiber optic cable installations.
  • Participate in internal new product ideation brainstorming to develop next-generation product concepts and work to engineer those ideas from concept to commercialization.
  • Provide support and engineering insight to product marketing for the development of new product business cases.
  • Apply the new product development process to bring product from feasibility, through development, pilot, and up to launch.
  • Prepare and route product documentation including, but not limited to, detailed drawings, Item Masters, Bill of Materials (BOMs), specifications and inspection criteria as directed.
  • Design, develop,  prototype, and test product components, and sub‐systems, by using principles and techniques of mechanical, electrical, and/or industrial engineering analysis and findings.
  • Participate as directed in resolving engineering design, product quality, and testing issues.
  • Fulfill benchmark evaluation of competitive or proposed new products as well as ongoing product improvements utilizing proposed processes or material changes.
  • Perform engineering analysis and field research to define design requirements for new products.
  • Perform quality improvement and cost reduction projects that improve customer satisfaction and profitability. Use problem‐solving skills to analyze engineering difficulties.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering and three (3) years of relevant work experience in SolidWorks or other CAD software experience. Knowledge of machining and other manufacturing processes is a plus.
  • Must have strong technical and analytical skills. Must have planning and organizational skills. Must be capable of facilitating projects and solutions on time and within budget. Demonstrated oral and written communication within a team environment. Proficient in Microsoft Office software (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint).

Overview

The CNC Machine Operator is responsible for setting up and operating a variety of machine shop tools and machines such as radial drill presses, lathes, milling machines, punch presses, shapers, and grinders to machine metal work pieces.

Responsibilities

  • ​Study blueprint or layout on workpiece to visualize machining required and plan the sequence of operations. Select the method of holding the workpiece.
  • Lift the workpiece manually or using a hoist, and position and secure it to holding devices such as machine tables, chuck, centers, or fixtures.
  • Select feed rate, cutting speed, depth of cut, and cutting tool (bar tool, rotary cutter, or abrasive wheel) for each operation.
  • Maintain coolant levels in the machine.
  • Observe operation and regulate tool position and action.
  • Verify conformance of machined workpiece to specifications.
  • Measure, mark, and scribe work pieces to lay out for machining.
  • Devise ways of clamping workpieces and make special jigs and fixtures as needed.

Qualifications

  • ​A High School Diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience working as a machinist are required. Experience with plastic injection molding is preferred. CNC (computer numerical control) and Master Cam experience are a plus.

​The Production Associate is responsible for operating manual and CNC equipment, assembly, and packaging. This position is also responsible for maintaining an inventory of assembly components within the work area and setting up components to complete each assembly assignment.

  • Operate manual and CNC (computer numerical control) metal cutting equipment.
  • Read bills of materials, gather products to assemble kits, and position parts following assembly instructions or blueprints.
  • Assemble products using hand tools/power tools and apply product labeling in the proper areas when applicable.

Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities

The Maintenance Technician position will maintain, troubleshoot and repair equipment. This position will be required to assist with the installation of equipment.
